Martha G. Bell
Martha Bell has been writing for publication since her first book chapter in 1989. During her academic career, she served as guest editor/co-editor for two special issues of journals and regularly peer reviewed submissions to journals. She also led writing workshops for academic and creative writers. More recently, she was part of a two-year collaborative writing project.
Expertise
Martha obtained a PhD in Sociology and pursued a career as a social science researcher while raising a family, and now works as a spatial data analyst. She is particularly interested in geoAI and open source intelligence (OSINT).
When not working, Martha writes in the area of the ‘new mobilities’ paradigm in social theory, currently finishing a book on the extreme sporting mobilities of adventure racing. She is a member of the Mobilities Aotearoa Research Network, supporting and encouraging research into mobility trajectories and their consequences.
